January 2021 - Happy New Year!

January 2021  Recap:

In January, our students learned about the theme of the month Winter, Snow, and Ice. It was a big topic that excited all our students since we are in beautiful sunny California. The children learned about Winter weather, attire, animals that hibernate, and they studied Antarctica. They created beautiful pieces of artwork such as polar bears, penguins, and mittens. The mittens correlate to our book of the month, which was The Mitten by Jan Brett. It was an adorable story of Winter animals fitting into a mitten and sharing a cozy space to stay warm for hibernation. Our letters of the month were l,m, n, and o; the children studied these by memorizing what each looked like, sounded like, and even felt like through our sandpaper textured cards.

We had many engaging enrichments for our older classes for Music, Spanish, Art, Computers, and Cooking. They were able to hear contemporary music by listening to the Beatles. They explored the world of French Impressionist Art by reviewing the works of Claude Monet. The children made some enjoyable and tasty, healthy snacks in Cooking. They practiced the curriculum in Computers through the ABCMouse.com site. Lastly, they reviewed all past lessons in Spanish, such as greetings, numbers, and more.
